Attendance/ Tardiness

Attendance will be monitored each month. We encourage consistent attendance as this promotes a strong work ethic and will give each dancer the best results in regards to training.

Dancers arriving 10 minutes late to any class will not be permitted to attend that particular class, no matter the reason. We understand that “things” may happen, but we will stick strongly to this rule, as tardiness tends to disrupt the class. Any dancer that is not allowed into class due to tardiness is more than welcome to make-up that particular class.

Make- Up Policy

Missed classes due to studio closures, illness and other reasons can be made up within one month of the missed class. Dancers must be enrolled in the same amount of classes in the month missed in order to make-up the classes. Dancers cannot drop classes and then use make-ups to take the dropped classes.

Drop Procedure

MDP has a ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE CANCELATION POLICY.  Authorized parent or guardian must submit all drop requests online prior to the 1st of the month (meaning the end of the current month) to: bayj@murrietadanceproject.com.  Any drops submitted on, or after, the 1st of the month will not be processed for that billing cycle not will it be retroactively approved or refunded.  For example, a drop request for April must be received prior to March 1st.  Verbal drop requests will not be honored.  Only drop requests submitted via email to bayj@murrietadanceproject.com will be processed.

Parents or guardians are responsible for payment for your student’s classes/camps whether or not your student attends the class/camp and until the time you submit a drop request via email. If a student stops coming to class without submission of a drop request email, then that student’s account will continue to be charged. MDP does not offer refunds.

Student Drop Off

Dancers cannot be dropped off more than 15 minutes before class time.

If a dancer has a private lesson and has longer than 15 minutes to wait for class the dancer must stay with the teacher.

All dancers must be picked up within 10 minutes of their last class. A $10 late fee will be charged for every 10 minutes that a dancer is not picked up.

All dancers must be picked up or take a class if a break is longer than 30 minutes unless otherwise arranged with the administration.

Thank you for understanding that our drop-off and pick-up policy is to ensure the safety of our dancers and faculty.

Etiquette

Students are expected to arrive to class on time, in proper attire. If a student is continuously tardy, he/she may be asked to change classes to a more convenient time.

Students arriving ten minutes late to class will not be permitted to attend that particular class.

All dancers should act in a respectful and attentive manner. If an instructor determines a dancer’s behavior unacceptable, the dancer will be asked to excuse themselves from the class into the lobby area and will be supervised by MDP’s front desk staff. If an instructor and the admin at MDP determines that a dancer should no longer participate in instruction due to unacceptable behavior, the parents will be notified and MDP has the right to refuse further instruction.

For liability purposes, parents are not allowed in the facility at this time.

NOTE: Class size is generally limited to 10-20 students depending on age. If a class has reached capacity, a waiting list will be started.

Water

Dancers are to bring their own water to class and programs. In the event that a student has forgotten water, one may be provided to your child for an additional $2 fee. The charge will be billed to your online account and card on file charged.

MDP@1500-0272.jpg

The dress code will be enforced starting in September.

Dancers need to have the specified shoes, tights, and leotard by September.

Dancers not adhering to the dress code will have a form sent home to help our families.  Please note we will enforce the dress code to help our dancers be successful in their genres.

Teachers may choose to have a dancer sit out if not in proper dress code. This is a per teacher basis. Asking a student to sit out is not meant as punishment but rather as an opportunity for them to observe and learn from the class. We believe in fostering a supportive and constructive learning environment, and this policy is part of that environment.

NO ACCESSORIES OF ANY KIND - Necklaces, Earrings (unless studs), Watches, Apple Watches, if Cell Phones are in boxes THEY MUST BE SILENCED.

Why is MDP a drop off studio?

  • Focus and Concentration: Dance classes and rehearsals require a high level of concentration and focus from our students. The presence of parents in the studio can sometimes be distracting for both the dancers and the instructors, affecting the quality of instruction and learning.

  • Privacy and Comfort: Many students, particularly as they grow older, appreciate having a private space where they can freely express themselves and develop their skills without feeling self-conscious. This change aims to create a more comfortable and encouraging environment for them.

  • Safety Measures: In light of health and safety concerns, we have implemented specific protocols and occupancy limits in our studios. Reducing the number of people in the studio helps us maintain social distancing and uphold hygiene standards.

  • Instructor-Student Interaction: Our instructors need to maintain a strong teacher-student rapport. This often involves one-on-one feedback and correction, which can be hindered in a crowded studio.

  • Studio cleanliness

  • Noise level

  • Entrance and exit in emergency situations

  • MDP must adhere to the Fire Safety code with allotted amount of people in the facility

Your child’s safety is of the utmost importance.  MDP has cameras in each dance room as well as hallways and most common spaces.

We ask that parents try and keep the lobby clear unless picking up or dropping off or needing to speak with the front desk.

Any parent not adhering to the policies will be sent an email as a friendly reminder after class.  The MDP Staff will not address the situation at the studio as there are multiple children around and our first duty is to our students.
